‘The Good Girl’ Bestseller Acquired By Anonymous Content

Could the debut novel from Mary Kubica be the next Winter’s Bone? Anonymous Content is betting it might as the company has picked up rights to The Good Girl. “After the first read we knew we wanted to be involved in bringing Mary Kubica’s deeply imaginative thriller to the screen,” said Anonymous Content’s Paul Green. “Her book represents the kind of powerful storytelling Anonymous aspires to produce.” RelatedAnonymous Content Launches Unscripted Division Headed By David Pritikin With credits on the 2010 Oscar-winning film starring Jennifer Lawrence as well as Season 1 of HBO’s True Detective and Cinemax’s The Knick, that’s pretty good company for Kubica’s psychological thriller. “Paul Green’s vision for The Good Girl is everything I dreamed it would be. I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Anonymous Content to The Good Girl family,” said the writer about the deal. Green will produce the adaptation with Anonymous’ Doreen Wilcox-Little. Published last July by Harlequin MIRA, The Good Girl depicts the kidnapping of a judge’s daughter gone really wrong. Shifting perspectives and time, the novel follows a mother trying to help her child with the assistance of a detective while the family unravels under its own secrets. And there’s more in the literary pipeline: Kubica’s second novel Pretty Baby is coming from MIRA Books in July. And yes, there was another pic called The Good Girl — it came out in 2002 starring Jennifer Aniston.
