MIchael E Sweet, SDPD badge #3716

Hello,

My name is Julie and I am an Occupier from Occupy San Diego. On November 12, 2011 Office Michael E Sweet choked my friend for 40 seconds right in front of me for the crime of sitting on a sleeping bag. My friend was restrained by three officers when this monster decided to chokeslam him to the ground and choke him until his face turned blue. I have never been so scared in my life, I really thought he was going to kill my friend. I didn’t even know people’s faces turned blue, I thought that was just in cartoons and the movies. Here is a video of the event:

Here is the news story:

On the news the police captain said Mr. Sweet was going to be removed from duty at our Occupation. This was a a lie. He is still patrolling, acting menacing towards the protesters. My friend said “you choked that guy for 30 seconds!” and he replied “It was 45 seconds” with a smile. He is not a normal police officer. He is a dangerous, violent man who should not have a badge. I fear for my safety knowing that he is watching me, because of these fliers I have been passing out:

I know if I go to jail for Occupy San Diego, I am in danger. I know if he sees me at night I am in danger. I am not afraid, but I feel a sense of dread about the situation. I do not understand why he has not been taken off duty or fired. I have filed complaints, and went to internal affairs at the police station. Everyone admits it is brutality, however no one is doing anything to stop him. Occupy Inland Empire recommended I relay this information to you. I have been occupying Civic Center Plaza in San Diego since Day 1. Although I do not spend the night anymore, because we have been raided 3 times, I am still there every day fighting for what is right. The brutality and illegal arrests we are facing in San Diego is absolutely out of control. It is like la la land there, they have literally arrested and jailed people for jaywalking, spitting and the solo crime of “resisting arrest”. I want Michael E Sweet fired, to make an example out of him, and show the other officers they cannot treat us like they are without consequences. Thank you for your support of our movement. Take care,

Julie
