The authors of “The New Common Sense” are carefully watching public opinion on “The New Common Sense” and if it needs to be revised, they will do so.

Simply post your concerns on main distribution sites such as Anonymous Central @ http://anoncentral.tumblr.com/post/12409353866/for-the-99-the-new-common-sense-must-distribute and they will be fairly and fully considered.

For the protection of the document and to maintain the purity of its message we again must ask that it not be “forked”. We assure you that we are listening closely to the “group conscience.” There is just no need for a “forking” of it. We believe strongly that to allow that would be too dangerous. Please trust us and show us the same respect we are showing you, for we’re on the same team here. To give anyone the right to edit this right now (anyone that isn’t the copyright holder) would also be giving the 1% the same right. How can we give the “99%” the right to edit it without giving the “1%” the same right? We see no way to do that, hence our decision to handle it this way. Your voice is not silenced nor are you excluded. We have been listening and we still are listening. We just cannot risk corruption of this document right now, it may destroy an amazing opportunity to achieve a new level of unity. Their media machines are just too powerful to risk that. Please understand that we know of no safe alternative in this climate. Give us one and we’d certainly consider it. We even sought legal advice and were told that this is the only sure way under current law to protect this.

If you still do not understand why it must be this way right now, we are confident that one day you will. The copyright the authors must retain is not just to protect the message, it’s to protect all of us by using the copyright laws and protections against those who would seek to corrupt it. It’s also to protect the authors. They have a right to privacy and do not wish to place their own families in jeopardy, which is exactly what could happen as this document spreads further. Please try to understand this.

We, again, must state that we make no apologies for its length. It has to be what it is in order to close all potential loopholes. Section I and Section II are meant to be ultimately disconnected from each other, with Section II designed to aid in the document’s delivery and distribution. If you consider only Section I, you’ll see that the document, for all that it covers, is actually quite concise.

Please do not judge it based solely on its length. Instead, please judge it based on its content.

A new revision, if it is ever needed, will be released here on pastebin for distribution. But for now, it’s absolutely critical that the document be widely distributed and forced into the public discussion as soon as possible.

Again, the authors are most interested in constructive commentary and feedback and will deeply consider all ideas.

In summary, if another revision is needed, we will deliver one in due time. After all, it took Thomas Paine himself three revisions before he nailed it! ;)

For now, though, please distribute the version at http://pastebin.com/gm2UV08D as well as the full release zip (links are given below) so that we may gain feedback and learn if a revision is even necessary. In the meantime, we urge all in the 99% to lend their support to the document. We urge all Occupy groups to consider its adoption and to discuss it. We also urge those who may be able to build upon this document with ones of their own to do so but to please show respect and do not modify this one.

“The New Common Sense” is designed to be the “first word” and most certainly not the last. It’s merely a tool to help us unify further, find our cause, gain a level and carry us towards whatever is next.

The 1% isn’t going to just wake up and decide to play fair. We need to back them into a corner, peacefully and with one voice, before they will budge. We believe that this document is an important step towards doing that and worked very hard on it with that in mind. We hope that you agree and force the 1% to acknowledge it and force a new conversation. That part is entirely up to you.
